Directive for student admission through digital lottery in secondary schools: The government has issued a directive for student admission through a digital lottery in the country’s secondary schools for the academic year 2024.
From the Department of Secondary and Higher Education, letters have been sent to the heads or principal teachers of all government secondary schools and school-and-colleges, and to the heads or principal teachers of private junior secondary, secondary, and school and colleges (located in metropolitan and district headquarters upazila level).
The letter states that the student selection process for admission from the first to ninth grade in all government secondary schools and private secondary schools (located in metropolitan and district headquarters upazila level) under the jurisdiction of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education is being completed through a digital lottery.
Consequently, for the academic year 2024, the student admission process from the first to ninth class in all government secondary schools and all private secondary schools located in the metropolitan and district headquarters upazila level will be conducted through a digital lottery. They should apply online through the Teletalk website at www.gsa.teletalk.com.bd.
The letter also mentions that although most institutions, including the nationalized ones, of government secondary schools have participated in the digital lottery process in previous years, many institutions at the upazila level did not. Similarly, most of the private secondary educational institutions located in the metropolitan and district headquarters upazila level have not participated in the student admission selection process through the digital lottery, which is not in accordance with regulations.
In the future, the head or principal teacher of any institution that does not participate in the digital lottery process will be held personally responsible.
For the academic year 2024, all government secondary schools in the country, and all private secondary schools located in metropolitan and district headquarters upazila level have been directed to participate in the student selection process for admission from first to ninth grade through a digital lottery, implementing the government decision.
